The following outline is a planning example, not the daily schedule of a named Waman package.

Days 1–2 — Lima: allow for arrival, a city visit and time to enjoy the food without adding a distant day trip.

Day 3 — Travel to the Cusco region: keep the arrival day light and agree on your first overnight location before booking transport.

Day 4 — Sacred Valley and Aguas Calientes: coordinate sightseeing with the train journey and stay overnight near Machu Picchu.

Day 5 — Machu Picchu: arrange the visit around your confirmed admission and return transport to Cusco.

Day 6 — Cusco: leave time for local sightseeing or a quieter day instead of automatically adding a high-mountain hike.

Day 7 — Departure: if flying home from Lima, include the Cusco–Lima journey and confirm whether the connection works. If you need an overnight stay in Lima, extend the trip beyond seven days or shorten an earlier stop.

The main compromise is scope: this version leaves out Paracas, Huacachina, Lake Titicaca and the Amazon. That gives you more room for the places already on the route.

A focused week connects Lima with the Cusco region.

A published seven-day tour and a Cusco-focused alternative

Waman’s Echoes of Peru seven-day tour includes Lima, Paracas, Ica and Huacachina, the Cusco region, Machu Picchu and Rainbow Mountain. Its published inclusions list Lima–Cusco and Cusco–Lima flights. It is a more active coast-and-Andes option than the focused example above, with less unallocated time.

For a Cusco-focused alternative, ask about spending the week in Cusco, the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu, with cultural visits such as Chinchero and Pisac. Request a confirmed daily program and flight inclusions before comparing it with a trip that starts in Lima. A week of services in Cusco does not include the time you may need for international travel or a Lima stay.

A 10-day Peru itinerary with Lake Titicaca or the Amazon

With ten days, you can explore the core route at a slower pace or choose one extension. If you want another region, decide which matters most rather than combining two different trips. Lake Titicaca continues the Andean journey; an Amazon stay changes the setting to rainforest excursions and lodge accommodation.

The products below are separate published itineraries. A three-night stay normally spans four calendar days, including arrival and departure; it does not provide four full days of excursions.

If you want a multiday trek, replace part of the route and account for preparation before the trek. Compare the Classic and Short Inca Trail before deciding what else belongs in your two weeks.

Account for transfers and altitude before booking

A travel day includes more than time in a vehicle. Airport procedures, hotel checkout, station transfers and baggage arrangements all reduce the time available for sightseeing.

Lima to the Cusco region: count the airport journey and onward hotel transfer as part of the day.

Machu Picchu: align the train, Aguas Calientes overnight stay, admission and return journey before fixing nearby activities.

Cusco to Puno: give the Route of the Sun its own travel day rather than treating it as a short connection before a lake excursion.

Puerto Maldonado to an Amazon lodge: confirm how airport pickup, ground transport and the river transfer fit together.

For flight and rail connections, see our guide to getting to Machu Picchu from the US.
