After a hearty breakfast, we’ll start hiking early to take advantage of the fresh morning and avoid the heat during the ascent to the town of Marampata, a significant spot as it provides the first view of Choquequirao. Once in Marampata, we’ll take a brief break surrounded by imposing mountains and snow-capped peaks before continuing our hike to the Choquequirao Archaeological Complex.

Later, we’ll thoroughly explore the entire citadel of Choquequirao. We’ll visit its famous terraces known as “The Llamas of the Sun,” temples, squares, and water channel systems perfectly preserved until this day. Our expert guide will share fascinating stories and the history of the culture and significance of this marvelous place. You’ll also have time to explore more yourself and take the best photos.

At midday, we’ll enjoy a delicious lunch surrounded by breathtaking landscapes and impressive Inca constructions. In the afternoon, we’ll go back to our campsite in Marampata to spend a wonderful evening, enjoy a great dinner, and have a well-deserved rest.

Today, we’ll enjoy a spectacular sunrise while having our breakfast in Marampata before hiking back to the trailhead. During the trek, we’ll pass at Santa Rosa, but this time make a brief stop to delve into the village, learn about its culture, and discover the ancestral method of making Cambray, a sugar-cane liquor exclusive to this area.

We’ll then continue the descent to the bottom of the Apurímac River, where we’ll take a well-deserved and refreshing dip in its crystal-clear waters before starting the ascent to our campsite in Chiquisca. There, we’ll enjoy a great dinner, rest, and spend the night in our comfortable tents.

Our last great day of the 4 days Choquequirao hike begins early with breakfast, followed by an ascent in the cool morning air, offering the last best views of the magnificent Apurímac Canyon. We will trek up to Capuliyoc, where a special celebration awaits us with our famous Pachamanca. This dish features potatoes, haba beans, maize and meat cooked underground with hot stones.

After enjoying this delicious traditional dish, we’ll bid farewell to our fantastic Waman Adventures trekking team and board private transport back to Cusco. We will drop you off at your hotel, concluding this incredible tour.
