To fully enjoy the trip, it is recommended to acclimate; for this, you should arrive in Cusco at least 2 or 3 days before your trip.

Why consider the availability of the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu?

How long is the trek to Machu Picchu? Therefore, if you plan to do the classic Inca Trail, you should make the reservation at least 6 months before your desired date. However, if you opt for the Short Inca Trail, a 2-month advance notice is sufficient.

It’s important to note that we do not accept children under 7 years old for their well-being. For older adults over 55 years, we request a medical certificate confirming good health and NO heart issues.

According to Article 13 of the Sustainable Tourism Use Regulation of the Inca Trail Network of the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu, official tourism guides and licensed tour guides must be properly registered on the official list of SERNANP, and they must carry their original guide’s ID card.
The registration on the official list should be updated every two years, as established in Article 16.2 of Presidential Resolution No. 336-2016-SERNANP and Ministerial Resolution No. 069-2017-MC.

Do I need to use trekking poles?

Yes, remember that the walking level varies as you progress on the trail, the path is full of steep and rugged climbs, and in general, the terrain is diverse. Therefore, it is necessary to use trekking poles with rubber tips as required by the Inca Trail regulations.

DAY 1: CUSCO – SANTA MARIA

This great adventure begins at the Málaga Pass, at 4,350 meters above sea level, the highest point of the entire route. The first extreme sport will be descending by bike for 3 hours. This journey allows you to pass from one climate to another, as the cold is intense at the Málaga pass, and as you descend, you start to feel the warmth of the cloud forest. This journey offers spectacular views of snow-capped mountains, lush vegetation, and various farming areas. The next activity will take place in the town of Santa María, where you can enjoy canoeing (optional).

DAY 2: SANTA MARIA – SANTA TERESA

A full day of hiking through the jungle and tasting tropical fruits. Early in the morning, after a delicious breakfast, you will start the hike to a small family house where you can taste the unique flavors of local fruits. Continuing on your journey, you will pass through the incredible Huancarccasa Canyon. And for a moment of relaxation after 7 hours of hiking, you will enjoy the Cocalmayo hot springs.

DAY 3: SANTA TERESA – AGUAS CALIENTES

The last day of hiking, and perhaps the hottest of the entire route. This day requires a bit more effort than the previous one, as the distance is approximately 16 kilometers. If it’s part of your plan to enjoy an adventure on ropes, you can opt for the ZIP LINE activity. The path through Hydro Electric is simple but charming, full of dense vegetation, and here is where you will feel the true sound of nature. We recommend using plenty of bug repellent during this journey.

Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, you will rest at your accommodation to recharge your energy and prepare for the next day’s visit to Machu Picchu.
