Highlight of the day: Bike downhill from Pass Malaga and canoe the class III and IV rapids of the Vilcanota River.

Your experience of the Inca Jungle Trek to Machu Picchu begins when our guide and private transportation pick you up from your hotel in Cusco´s city, around 5:30 a.m. After a comfortable 3.5-hour journey in our private van, we will reach the Málaga Pass (4,350 m/14,271 ft), the highest point of this adventure. We will stop there to prepare and receive instructions from the guide before starting the first activity of the day.

Around 10 a.m. we will start the approximately 3-hour bike descent, passing through small villages, farmland, and river crossings until we reach Huamanmarca. Here, we will have a delicious lunch and a short rest.

Then, we will board our private van that will take us to Santa Maria in 45 minutes approximately, where we will do the second activity of the day, a 2-hour rafting experience on the Vilcanota River, accompanied by a professional kayak guide. Finally, we will head to our hotel in Santa Maria for a delicious dinner and a well-deserved rest.

Note: If you prefer not to descend the bike, you can travel comfortably in the van that follows the group.

DAY 02: SANTA MARÍA – SANTA TERESA (COCALMAYO´S HOT SPRINGS)

Highlight of the day: Walk a stage of the Inca Trek, visit coffee plantations, the local Hacienda, and relax at the famous Cocalmayo´s hot springs.

We will start the second day of the Inca Jungle Trek, enjoying a delicious breakfast before beginning the exciting exploration. During the morning stretch, we will notice a gradual ascent, with strategic pauses to contemplate and learn about the rich flora and fauna of the region, which will connect you with nature and history.

During one of these stops, you will have the opportunity to rest in a family home known as “Hacienda Local“, where you can taste local fruits, learn about their customs and recharge your camelback with water. Then, continue walking along an ancient stretch of the Inca Trail, a historic road that linked Vilcabamba to Machu Picchu. While you enjoy the panoramic views of the Huancarccasa Canyon.

Then we will start with the descent to the village of Quellomayo, where a hearty lunch and some time to rest in the relaxing hammocks await you. Finally, we will walk 2 hours more until we reach the Cocalmayo Hot Springs, where you can relax and enjoy its medicinal waters.

After the relaxing experience, we will head to Santa Teresa, where we will have a delicious dinner and spend the night in a previously reserved hotel.

Highlight of the day: Experience the adrenaline of the zip line and the first view of Machu Picchu.

After an energetic breakfast, we will begin the third day of our Inca Jungle Trek, with an exciting zip-line slide and enjoying the impressive jungle scenery. Then, we will return to our transportation, which will take us to Santa Teresa, during this time, we can enjoy the panoramic views and take a short break before reaching the checkpoint at the “Hydroelectric“, where a delicious lunch awaits us.

Then, we will start a light hike of approximately 4 hours along the train tracks, a stretch in which you will enjoy incredible landscapes, coca fields and local crops; until we reach Machu Picchu Pueblo also known as “Aguas Calientes”, where you will settle in a three-star hotel (previously booked).

In the evening, we will meet at a tourist restaurant for a delicious dinner and to plan with the assigned guide, our exciting visit to Machu Picchu.

Our last day of the Inca Jungle Trek began very early in the morning, around 5:00 a.m. to make the most visit to Machu Picchu. After breakfast, you will take one of the first buses to get to the Inca city of Machu Picchu´s entrance and start the guided tour of the most important and beautiful places of the site. Take the best panoramic pictures from the Guardian’s House, recharge yourself with the mystic energy at the Sacred Rock and discover the history while touring this sacred Inca city.

At the end of our visit, we will take the bus back to Aguas Calientes, to enjoy a delicious lunch before boarding the train that will take us to Ollantaytambo, where our private transportation will be waiting to take you to the door of your hotel in the city of Cusco and conclude this great 3-day Inca Jungle Trail.

It is a short version of the Inca Jungle Trek 4D/3N or Inca Jungle Trek Classic, ideal for adventurers with limited time. It allows you to live an equally intense adventure combining mountain biking, canoeing, zip lining and trekking through the lush jungle and the long-awaited exploration of Machu Picchu.

What are the differences between the Inca Jungle Trek 4D/3N and the Short Inca Jungle Trek (3D/2N)?

The differences lie in the resting places, lunches and some activities during the trek. An example is that in the Classic Inca Jungle Trek 4D/3N, the trekking starts from Santa Maria to Santa Teresa, a stretch that allows you to visit coffee plantations, with a brief rest in a family farm, where you have a small informative talk about the customs and traditions of the local population.

Note: Both treks include adventure activities (biking, rafting and zip-lining) and a visit to the hot springs of Cocalmayo.

Are the Inca Jungle Trek 4D/3N - Group Service departure dates guaranteed?

We understand your concern regarding the guarantee of departure dates. Only in extreme cases of dangerous weather conditions or natural disasters may we be forced to postpone the departure date for safety reasons. Other than these exceptional cases, your tour date is 100% guaranteed.

Regarding the minimum number for group reservations, we require a minimum of 2 people to guarantee the departure.

What is the difficulty of the Inca Jungle Trek 4D/3N?

The difficulty varies according to the physical condition and previous hiking experience of each person. Although the trail is not very demanding, it requires endurance, strength and determination. The level of difficulty of the Inca Jungle Trek varies from easy to moderate.

Do I need to be physically prepared for the Inca Jungle Trek 4D/3N?

While it is not required to be a professional athlete, it is advisable to have a decent physical condition to complete and enjoy the adventure activities to the fullest.

Is it necessary to have previous experience in biking, rafting and zipline?

Biking: To do this activity you only need to have basic to intermediate experience, since the circuit is done on paved terrain and downhill.

Rafting: To do this activity you do not need to have previous experience, since during the whole circuit you will be accompanied by a highly qualified professional and with the necessary implements to safeguard your life, it is only recommended to know how to swim.

Zipline: To do this activity you only need to follow the indications of the professionals and enjoy the activity.

What is the recommended season to do the Inca Jungle Trek 4D/3N?

Waman Adventures recommends doing the Inca Jungle Trail in the dry season, which runs from April to October, being June, July and August, the months with less rainfall. This guarantees the best experience during the tour.

Why is it necessary to pay a deposit to book the Inca Jungle Trek 4D/3N?

The initial deposit allows us to guarantee all entrance fees, permits and services required for your Inca Jungle Trail tour, such as:

What is the minimum and maximum recommended age to do the Inca Jungle Trek 4D/3N?

The minimum recommended age is 12 years old and with parental authorization, because during the trek there are adventure activities. Minors must be accompanied by a responsible adult during the entire tour.

The maximum recommended age is 55, this age can be higher as long as participants are in good physical condition, without heart or respiratory problems (always under their own responsibility).

How many days do I need to acclimatize in Cusco before the Inca Jungle Trek?

At Waman Adventures, we recommend acclimatization for at least 3 days before starting the Inca Jungle Trail 3D/2N. This will ensure your proper acclimatization to avoid altitude sickness. While doing so, you can do small 1-day tours during your stay in Cusco.

Do I need travel insurance for the Inca Jungle Trek 4D/3N?

Travel insurance, although optional, is highly recommended for this or any other trek, since, in case of any incident or emergency during the trip, it offers immediate support and assumes the costs of care, transfer or treatment that may be required. What happens if someone in the group gets hurt or sick during the Inca Jungle Trek?

In case any member of the group suffers an accident or becomes ill, our guides are highly trained in first aid to assist the passengers. If necessary, the affected member is evacuated for medical attention to the nearest health post, while the rest of the group continues as normal.

What happens if it rains during the programmed adventure activities of the Inca Jungle Trek 4D/3N?

In case of light rains, activities such as downhill biking and rafting can be carried out usually, after evaluation by professionals. In case of heavy rains, activities may be postponed and in extreme cases cancelled to safeguard the integrity of our clients and staff.

Will I be able to charge my devices during the Inca Jungle Trek 4D/3N?

Yes, throughout the tour we will have resting places such as hotels and restaurants, where you can charge your cell phone, camera or any other device you may have (remember to have the standard voltage adapters and plugs used in Peru). However, it is also recommended to bring a portable battery for the more remote places during the trek, as there are no power sources.

Is there cell phone signal coverage on the Inca Jungle Trek 4D/3N?

During the entire circuit, we will pass through villages and small towns (Santa Maria, Santa Teresa and Aguas Calientes) where the signal is optimal for communication. On the other hand, during the adventure activities and the tour through the trails, the signal is sporadic, having a little signal at some of the highest points.
