Itinerary

Half-Day: Cusco Southern Valley Tour – Southern Valley Cusco

The Cusco Southern Valley Tour starts at approximately 8:00 a.m. Our transportation will pick you up from your hotel to take you approximately 1 hour to the impressive archaeological site of Tipon. This is a place of great beauty and deep cultural significance, where it is believed that they worshiped the water. Tipon is known for its impeccable Inca architectural and engineering work, noted for its terraces and water channels. You will have plenty of time to explore this beautiful place accompanied by your guide who will answer any of your questions.

At the end of the guided tour in Tipon, we return to the transport to head towards our next destination, Pikillacta Archaeological Park. The name Pikillaqta comes from a Quechua word, where “Piki” means “Flea” and “Llaqta” means “Town”, which translates as “small town” or “the town of fleas”. This archaeological site was a large urban centre of the Pre-Inca Wari culture.

At the end of the visit to Pikillaqta, our transport will take you to the village of Andahuaylillas, where we will visit the temple of San Pedro Apostle Andahuaylillas built in the 16th century. Nowadays, this temple is known as the “Sistine Chapel of America” and is famous for its decorations which include canvases, murals, altarpieces, and sculptures. Among the outstanding artists who have contributed works are Tadeo Escalante and Diego Quispe Titto.

At the conclusion of our guided tour, inside the Andahuaylillas temple, we will return to Cusco city. Our transportation will drop us off near Cusco’s historic centre, allowing us to continue exploring this fascinating city.
