FAQS

What to expect on the 5 days package?

The Cusco, Machu Picchu and Rainbow Mountain tour is a very popular excursion tour in Peru that includes visits to the following places:

  • Sacred Valley: It is a fertile valley surrounded by impressive mountains and Inca agricultural terraces. We visit the salt mines of Maras, the archaeological site of Moray and the village of Chinchero known as “The Town of the Rainbow”.
  • Machu Picchu: It is the most famous Inca citadel in the world. Declared one of the 7 Wonders of the Modern World. You will visit its iconic attractions on a guided tour.
  • Rainbow Mountain: It is an extraordinary geological spectacle. It is a mountainous formation dyed of several colours, the product of a complex combination of minerals.
Where does my travel package start and end?

All our tour packages include airport pick-up depending on the package chosen and the itinerary. In this case, the pick-up would be from the Alejandro Velazco Astete airport in Cusco or the bus terminal. Upon arrival at the airport or bus station, a Waman Adventures staff will wait for you holding a sign with your name written on it.

Similarly, at the end of our packages, and depending on where our services end in the itinerary, our transport will transport you to the designated airport.

For this purpose, we will coordinate with you the pick-up time from the hotel or place you are. Contact our sales agents, then they provide you with detailed information about your airline tickets to make the corresponding arrangements.

What is the recommended season to visit Southern Peru?

It is advisable to make this package in the dry season or less rainfall in Cusco, which is from mid-April to late October, being from June to August as the best months to visit Cusco.

  • April – May: This is the beginning of the dry season. The rains are few and far between and the weather is pleasant with sunny days and clear skies.
  • June – August: These are the dryest months. There is almost no rain and the weather is more stable, with sunny days and cool nights. These are the ideal months for trekking and visiting outdoor attractions.
  • September – October: These are still dry months, but afternoon showers may occur. The weather becomes wetter.
  • November – March: This is the rainy season, with frequent and sometimes torrential rainfall, especially in January and February.
Is accommodation included in this travel package? Can I choose the accommodation I prefer?

Our travel packages include accommodation according to duration and double occupancy. We can offer double rooms with 2 single beds or a double bed. If you are 3 travellers we can provide a triple room with 3 single beds or whatever type of accommodation you prefer. It is necessary to contact our sales agents to provide these details regarding the type of accommodation.

On the other hand, if you are a single person, you must pay an individual supplement for your accommodation in hotels. This is due to the fact that the price of a single room and a double room in Peru is almost the same. This means that, if you are a solo traveller, you will have to pay for a room for one person.

NOTE: The accommodation we offer in Lima is the Miramar Hotel. In Cusco is the Ayni Cusco Hotel, Monasterio San Pedro or similar. In Machu Picchu Pueblo, also called Aguas Calientes is the Golden Sunrise Hotel or similar, in Puno is the Royal Inn Hotel, Kalayasa or similar. All hotels are 3 star hotels.

Is accommodation included in this travel package? Can I choose the accommodation I like?

Our travel packages include accommodations according to the duration and are based on double occupancy. We can offer double rooms with 2 twin or double beds. If you are 3 travelers we can provide a triple room with 3 single beds or the type of accommodation you prefer. It is necessary to contact our sales agents to provide these details regarding the type of accommodation.

On the other hand, if you are only one person, it is necessary to pay an individual supplement for your accommodation in the hotels. This is due to the fact that the price of a single room and a double room in Peru is almost the same, which means that, if you are a single traveler, you must pay for a room for only one person.

The accommodation we provide in Lima is the Miramar Hotel. In Cusco it is the Ayni Cusco Hotel, Monasterio San Pedro or similar. In Picchu Pueblo, also called Aguas Calientes, is the Golden Sunrise Hotel or similar, in Puno is the Royal Inn Hotel, Kalayasa or similar. All hotels are 3 star category.

Is there a single supplement if I am a solo traveller?

Yes, our offer prices are designed considering double occupancy, where two people share a room. If you prefer to venture out on your own and wish to have a room for yourself, you will have to pay an extra charge. This single supplement is necessary to cover the costs associated with a single room and shuttle service. We recommend you check with our sales colleagues for specific details and proceed with your booking.

Is it important to acclimatise for this trip?

Most people adapt well within a day or two to the altitude of 3,350 metres in Cusco. However, it is worthwhile to remember that not everyone adapts to altitude changes. Some may feel altitude sickness and others may not. Taking an extra day in Cusco is an excellent way to ensure your body is fully acclimatised. This will allow you to fully enjoy each day without worrying about altitude sickness.

Do our travel packages include international flights?

Waman Adventures works with passengers arriving from around the world, so we focus on the Peruvian services we provide. For this reason, international flights are not currently available. However, we have trained staff that will gladly help you quote and organize your flights better.

Note: Some of our travel packages do include local air flights on the Lima-Cusco, Cusco-Lima and Juliaca-Lima flights.

Will I be able to visit the Intihuatana in Machu Picchu?

The hours for visitingIntiwatana inside Machu Picchu Picchu are limited. Access to the Intihuatana is only allowed from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. It is impossible to visit Intiwatana at other times.

Is Huayna Picchu better than Machu Picchu Mountain?

Each of these extra treks has a particular view of Machu Picchu. We can not compare them. In Huayna Picchu, you will enjoy an elevated hike with unparalleled scenery and in Machu Picchu Mountain another perspective.

On the other hand, both treks have limited permits. Huayna Picchu sells out faster than Machu Picchu Mountain. Reservations should be made 2 to 3 months in advance. The cost of each of these two extra routes is $85.00 USD.

What activities do we have planned for the last day of the tour?

The last day of our package is a free day. You can make the most of it by exploring Cusco on your own or just relaxing, depending on your flight schedule.

Don’t worry, we are ready to transfer you from your hotel to the airport 2 hours before your scheduled flight. Once at the airport, our services will be over and we hope you had a carefree experience full of memorable moments!

Are departure dates for this package guaranteed? What is the minimum number of people to book a group?

We understand your concern about guaranteed departure dates. Only in extreme cases of dangerous weather conditions or natural disasters may we be forced to postpone the departure date for safety reasons. Despite these exceptional cases, your tour date is 100% guaranteed.

As for the minimum number of people required for group bookings, we require a minimum of 2 people to guarantee departure.

Why do I need to pay a deposit to book the 5 day tour?

The initial deposit allows us to guarantee all services for your tour. This includes:

  • Entrance fees to archaeological sites. They must be booked in advance.
  • Staff such as guides, drivers, etc. Whose services must be booked in advance.
  • Tourist and logistical transportation exclusively for the group.
  • Accommodation in specific locations for 4 nights.

In this way, when we receive your deposit (30% of the total cost of the tour) we can ensure the availability of the best services for the dates of your tour and avoid last-minute problems.

Remember that the 30% deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable.

What are the options to pay the tour balance before the starting date?

The balance of the tour must be paid in cash (recommended) and preferably in dollars, but can also be paid in Peruvian soles, subject to the exchange rate of the day, directly at our offices in Cusco as a priority 24 hours before the start date of your tour. Otherwise, the balance must be paid on the day of the tour, directly to your guide.

It is very critical to pay the remaining balance to ensure all tour services are properly coordinated.

You can use the PayPal option on our website and follow the steps. Please note that PayPal charges 6% tax for this transaction which is automatically included in this option.

The maximum recommended age for this experience is 60 years old.

How many travellers will share this experience with me?

Waman Adventures offers services in small groups. The minimum number of travellers for the packages or tours we offer is TWO (02), and if this is the case, you may join a group of no more than 18 travellers. If the group is larger than 12 people, your group will consist of a main guide and an assistant guide.

Is there a discount for children and is it possible to travel with them?

Yes, children between 5 to 9 years old have a special discount of 85.00 USD.

Extras:

  • Teenagers between 10 to 16 have a special 25.00 USD discount.
Do I need a Visa to enter Peru?

With some exceptions, most countries do not require a visa to enter Peru as a tourist.

Tourists can stay 30 to 90 days. The actual length of stay is determined by the National Migration Superintendence.

What happens if I lose my migration card?

Be careful not to lose your tourist card, or you will have to queue at the National Migration Superintendence., also known as “Migraciones” to get a replacement card. It is a good idea to carry your passport and TAM in your pocket at all times, especially when travelling to remote areas.

For security reasons, make a photocopy of both documents and keep them separate from the originals.

Is it possible to charge my electronic devices during my package?

Of course, you can charge your electronic devices at the hotels included in your tour package. Peru’s voltage is 220 volts or 60HZ AC. Be careful, if you connect electrical devices made for lower current voltages, you will damage them. If you want to take care of your electrical appliances, you should bring a voltage adapter with you.

In Peru, the most common plugs are Type A (two parallel rectangular slits); Type B (two parallel slits plus a third circular plug); and Type C (two circular plugs).

Where can I store my luggage while I visit Machu Picchu?

For convenience and comfort, it is recommended that you leave your heavy luggage at your accommodation in Cusco. Most hotels have luggage storage services free of charge (free of charge).

You will take the Peru Rail or Inca Rail trains (a necessity for getting to Machu Picchu quickly), these railway companies will only allow you to carry 5 kilos. Due to this reason, and to ensure your comfort, you should only carry a light backpack with the items you need to spend one night and visit the sites while you are away from your hotel in Cusco.

What happens if a tour is cancelled due to weather conditions or strikes?

Because of factors outside the travel agency’s control, these tours are non-refundable. We arrange all visits and tours months in advance of your trip to secure tickets and fares. Check out our terms and conditions.

Is the Expedition train service better than the Vistadome train service?

Both trains make the same trip during the same period of time, along the same train tracks and on very similar schedules. However, the Vistadome is a little more comfortable than the Expedition train service. The windows and ceilings of the Vistadome train are wider than those of the Expedition train. There are also slightly larger spaces between seats in the Vistadome.

Finally, another difference is that the Vistadome service from Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu town) to Ollantaytambo offers a dance show and a fashion show with baby alpaca garments.

Can I book additional nights in hotels before or after my tour?

Yes, Waman Adventures offers the possibility to book additional nights in the hotels we work with. These reservations can be made before or after your tour, and we will arrange them according to your specific needs.

For more information or to make a reservation for extra nights, we recommend contacting our sales colleagues in advance. They will coordinate all the details and provide you with available options.

PLEASE NOTE: All hotel reservations must be made at least 30 days before your booking date.

Will I have an internet connection during my tour days?

Yes, the hotels we work with offer a stable, high-speed internet connection. However, the connection may be unstable and slow during hikes to the Humantay Lake or Rainbow Mountain. If you want a constant connection, you must buy a local SIM card. The main recommended networks are CLARO and ENTEL, which offer wide coverage. You can choose from different data packages ranging from 5 soles upwards, it is up to you.

Can I take my drone on the package's days?

No, the use of drones is not allowed, as, by supreme decree of the Peruvian government, in any archaeological centre or attraction that we will visit during our tour days in Cusco. This includes Saqsaywaman, Machu Picchu, Humantay Lake, Rainbow Mountain and Moray. However, as long as they are not in the aforementioned areas you can fly a drone over certain rural areas of the Andes. For more information please contact our sales team.
