Visit the incredible viewpoint of Chonta, located just 1 hour drive from the city of Cusco to discover the great historical, cultural and natural wealth of the archaeological sites of Killarumiyoc and Tarawasi, two incredible places rarely visited. Feel the purity of the Andean air, while you contemplate the most impressive mountain landscapes of the Peruvian Andes, until you reach the famous viewpoint of Chonta, from where we can observe the majestic flight of condors, birds as impressive as mysterious, with a great value for the Inca culture until today.

Itinerary

Cusco – Killarrumiyoc – Tarawasi – Chonta Canyon – Cusco

We will start our Cusco Flying Condor Viewpoint Tour by picking you up from your hotel between 7 – 8 a.m., to take you in our private transportation to the famous Viewpoint at Chonta. During the first ride, we will be able to observe impressive green mountains and surrounding villages, while enjoying incredible landscapes.

After approximately an hour and a half of travel, we will arrive at the beautiful village of Anta, where we will make our first stop to visit the fascinating archaeological site of Killarumiyoq (3,650 m/11,975 ft), a complex used by the Incas to celebrate rites and ceremonies to the Moon (deity of the Inca culture), where we will also find a large number of terraces, water channels, Inca walls and the presence of a cave, where you can see petroglyphs and some cave paintings.

After our first visit, we will board our transportation to go to the archaeological complex of Tarawasi (2,675 m/8,776 ft)), located just 45 minutes from Killarumiyoq. During our tour in Tarawasi, we will observe two rectangular stone structures, which in Inca times were known as Usno, which connects with the main esplanade and resembles a truncated pyramid. In the place, we will also find an ascent built in colonial times in the eighteenth century, built on the foundations of a structure of Inca origin.

Afterward, we will continue to the town of Limatambo, where we will recharge our batteries with a delicious lunch surrounded by the impressive mountain range and an amazing climate. You will also be able to do some last-minute shopping such as snacks, water, sunblock, etc.

On the road once again, we will reach the Huayronka bridge, from where we will start the trail to the viewpoint of Chonta (3,400 m/11,154 ft), during this journey, we will cross the beautiful village of Chonta, located between the Andean mountains, whose people are very friendly and warm. Once we arrive at the checkpoint, we will begin the long-awaited hike, during which we will visit 3 viewpoints, from where we can observe and take the best pictures of the majestic Andean condor and its incredible flight over the mountains and the Apurimac Canyon; an experience as unique as incredible.

At the end of this incredible adventure, we will return to the checkpoint to board the transport that will take us back to the city of Cusco, but not before taking a short break to visit the village of Chonta. We will arrive in Cusco at approximately 7 – 8 pm, thus ending the indescribable experience of our Condor Tour Cusco.
