Itinerary

Paracas, Ica, and Huacachina Tour—Desert Adventure

We will start by picking you up from your hotel in Lima at approximately 5:00 am. We will head south for 3 hours towards the imposing Ica Desert, the largest in Peru.

Upon arriving at the port of Paracas, we will have some time to enjoy breakfast before boarding a boat to the fascinating Ballestas Islands. During the boat journey, we will admire the large Candelabro geoglyph carved into the duneside. Around the islands, playful sea lions will greet us. We will also observe unique Humboldt penguins and guano birds flying over their nests.

We will then continue the trip to the province of Ica to visit the traditional Lazo and Nietto wineries. There, you will learn about the production of pisco, the famous Peruvian grape brandy. You will have the opportunity to taste their excellent piscos while learning how to make them. Afterward, we will delight in the flavors of local cuisine with a typical lunch (not included in the tour).

Next, we will head to the oasis of Huacachina, which has peace and tranquility. But the adventure continues with exciting buggy rides that will take us over the giant dunes. Those who wish can slide down the high dunes on sandboards.

After this day full of nature and adrenaline, we will return to Lima to arrive between 9:00 and 10:00 pm. The contrast between the desert and the city will be the perfect end to this unforgettable tour.

IMPORTANT: The temporary closure of the Ballestas Islands can occur for various reasons, with the most common being:

HARSH WEATHER: Due to their ocean location, the Ballestas Islands are susceptible to dangerous weather conditions such as strong winds, high tides, storms. These conditions jeopardize the safety of visitors and even local wildlife. In such circumstances, authorities may temporarily close access to the islands until conditions improve. If so, there are two alternatives to enjoy the area:

Tour of the Paracas National Reserve: This reserve, located on the mainland, offers an impressive coastal cliff and a great diversity of wildlife, including birds and marine mammals. You can explore the reserve through vehicle tours or guided walks.

Boat ride at Paracas Bay: If the weather helps, we will take a small boat to explore the Paracas bay. Although it is not the same as visiting the Ballestas Islands, you can enjoy beautiful coastal landscapes and observe seabirds and sea lions in their natural environment.

Duration: Approximately 15 hours
