ANDEAN COOKING CLASS AND PISCO SOUR

COOKING-CLASS waman-adventures-tours-lima-degustacion-pisco-sour (1)

We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at around 10:00 a.m., together with the local guide who will accompany you throughout the experience. Before arriving at the cooking venue, you will visit the traditional San Pedro Market, one of the city’s most emblematic and busiest markets.

At the market, you will walk among colorful stalls while you discover the essential ingredients of Andean cuisine: different types of chili peppers, tubers, aromatic herbs, fruits, and other fresh products. You will personally choose some of these items, which you will later use to prepare your main dish.

After the visit and the purchase of ingredients, we will head to Hotel Ayni Cusco, located in the picturesque neighborhood of Santa Ana, in an elevated area with a beautiful panoramic view of the city. Upon arrival, you will receive a brief introduction to local gastronomy and the techniques you will use during the class.

Guided by a chef specialized in Cusquenian cuisine, you will choose your menu of the day from several typical Peruvian and Cusquenian dishes (see options below). Using the products previously selected at the market, you will begin the practical part of the andean cooking class, learning each step, traditional techniques, and authentic plating styles. At the end, you will enjoy your own preparation as lunch.

Once the cooking session is over, you will move to the hotel balcony or terrace, where you will take part in a cocktail class to learn how to prepare a classic Pisco Sour. You will discover the ideal proportions of pisco, freshly squeezed lime juice, egg white, simple syrup, and a few drops of Angostura bitters. You will wrap up the experience by toasting with your cocktail while you take in the views over the city of Cusco.

Dishes you can choose to prepare in the cooking class:

  • Ají de gallina: Shredded chicken in a creamy yellow chili pepper sauce, with a mild and slightly spicy flavor.

  • Andean quinotto: Quinoa “risotto” prepared with local vegetables and spices, a creamy, and nutritious.
