Nevado Ausangate Nevado Ausangate

  • First, we pick you up from your hotel in Cusco between 4:30 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. After roughly 3 hours of driving, we arrive at Pacchanta, where you’ll have breakfast and begin the hike. We gradually ascend until we reach our first lake, continuing in this manner to the subsequent ones.
  • The round-trip hike lasts about 5 hours. Along the way, we’ll visit various lakes of different colors—mainly turquoise-blue and green. Some are large enough to look like natural mirrors. For example, you’ll see Azulcocha, Otorongo, Pucacocha, Alqacocha, Q’omercocha, Orqo Otorongo, and China Otorongo.
  • We may also spot Andean birds, alpacas, llamas, and vizcachas. Afterward, we return to Pacchanta, where you can relax in the medicinal hot springs and enjoy a delicious lunch made from local ingredients.
  • By around 4:00 p.m., we’ll return to Cusco and drop you off at your hotel or lodging. Thus ends our grand tour through the highest Andes in Cusco.

¿Why choose us?

WHY CHOOSE WAMAN ADVENTURES?

Waman Adventures works continually to become one of Peru’s most responsible tour operators. Ideally, we aim to keep our groups to around 10 people. Because we fully operate all our treks—in this case, the 7 lakes of Ausangate—we have total control over the quality of our service. Above all, we want to ensure you have a great experience on every tour and trek with us.

It’s crucial that everyone involved in delivering our services is treated fairly and that the benefits from tourism extend to local Peruvian communities, particularly those near the Ausangate 7 lakes. We employ professional Peruvian (bilingual) guides and local porters, many of whom have worked with us for more than two years.

We believe in fair wages and insurance to safeguard our staff and their families in case of accidents. We see these as basic requirements for fairly treating our team—not luxuries or special treatment. Although many companies may claim this, few actually follow through in genuinely caring for their porters and guides.

GROUP SIZE FOR THE 7 LAKES OF AUSANGATE TOUR:

We keep our group sizes between 8 and 12 people.

We do this to preserve a unique experience and to provide personalized attention.
