On the “Machu Picchu, Rainbow Mountain, and Humantay Lagoon Tour,” you can expect a unique experience that takes you through amazing landscapes and unveils the history and culture of the Cusco region. During this travel package, you will explore various destinations, including the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu, Rainbow Mountain, and Humantay Lagoon.

When is the best season for the “6-Day Andean Adventures – With Flights from Chile”?

The best season for the “Machu Picchu, Rainbow Mountain, and Humantay Lagoon Tour” is generally during the dry season, which runs from April to October. June to August are typically the most popular months thanks to more stable weather conditions—sunny days with minimal chance of rain.

What is the maximum altitude on the “6-Day Andean Adventures – With Flights from Chile”?

The highest altitude reached on the “Machu Picchu, Rainbow Mountain, and Humantay Lagoon Tour” is 5,020 meters (16,470 ft) at Rainbow Mountain.

Is lodging included in this travel package? Can I choose the accommodation I want?

Our travel packages include accommodations for the duration of the trip, based on double occupancy. We can offer double rooms with two single beds or one double bed. For groups of three travelers, we can provide a triple room with three single beds or another arrangement of your preference. It is necessary to contact our sales agents to provide details about the kind of accommodation you prefer.

If you’re traveling alone, a single supplement is required for hotel accommodations. This is because the cost of a single and a double room in Peru is nearly the same, so as a solo traveler, you must pay for a room for one person.

NOTE: The lodging we provide in Lima is Hotel Miramar. In Cusco, it’s Ayni Cusco Hotel, Monasterio San Pedro, or similar. In Machu Picchu Pueblo (also known as Aguas Calientes), it’s Golden Sunrise Hotel or similar. In Puno, it’s the Royal Inn Hotel, Kalayasa, or similar. All hotels are 3-star category.

Are vegetarian or special diet options available for meals?

Yes. We recommend informing our sales team in advance about your dietary preferences so we can take them into account and provide suitable options during your meals.

I have a food allergy. Can I still participate?

Yes, but remember to inform us in detail about your allergy when booking, including the severity of your reaction and any medication you take in case of emergency. If your allergy is severe, we ask that you be accompanied by someone fully aware and responsible for your condition and ready with any necessary medication.

WE CANNOT ACCEPT CLIENTS WITH LIFE-THREATENING ALLERGIES.

What is the age range for the “6-Day Andean Adventures – With Flights from Chile”?

We recommend a minimum age of 5 for these experiences; it is not recommended for children under 4. Furthermore, all minors must be accompanied by responsible adults (18+) at all times. The recommended maximum age for this trip is about 60 years old.

Are there discounts for underage travelers?

Yes, children between 5 and 9 years old enjoy a special discount of US$85.00.

Extras:

  • Children aged 10 to 16 get a special discount of US$25.00
I have a physical limitation. Can I take this tour?

Depending on your physical condition, we encourage you to contact our sales team for a personalized evaluation. They will be happy to help determine whether the tour is suitable for you and answer any questions you may have.

How far in advance do I need to book the “6-Day Andean Adventures – With Flights from Chile”?

To guarantee your spot on the “Machu Picchu, Rainbow Mountain, and Humantay Lagoon Tour,” we suggest booking at least one month in advance, as there is a limited daily capacity for Machu Picchu tickets.

What is the cancellation and refund policy?

When we receive written notification that you wish to cancel your trip, the following fees will be charged:

30 to 60 days 40% of the trip cost
7 to 29 days before departure 60% of the trip cost
Less than 7 days before departure or “No-Show” (if the passenger does not show up) 100% of the trip cost
What if I feel ill during the hike to Humantay Lagoon or Rainbow Mountain?

If you experience altitude sickness symptoms during your hike to Humantay Lagoon or Rainbow Mountain, it’s important to let your guide know immediately. Resting, staying hydrated, and chewing small amounts of coca leaves are initial measures. In severe cases, descending to a lower altitude may be necessary, meaning you may not be able to continue. We recommend acclimatizing for at least one day in Cusco, avoiding heavy meals, alcohol, and tobacco before the hikes.

How can I get my ticket to enter Huayna Picchu?

You must book Huayna Picchu tickets months in advance. Only 400 people are allowed per day. The purchase is made online via the official website: https://www.machupicchu.gob.pe. Once on this site, book the route: CIRCUITO 4 + MONTAÑA WAYNAPICCHU, between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. This ensures you follow the itinerary planned for your third day of travel.

Payment is made with Visa or MasterCard, and there is a 5% fee for the transaction. Finally, just print out your tickets and present them on the day of your visit to Waynapicchu Mountain.

Can I bring my drone on my tour days?

No, the use of drones is prohibited, as per a Supreme Decree of the Peruvian government, in any archaeological site or attraction we will visit during our days in Cusco. However, if you are outside those areas, you may be allowed to fly a drone in certain rural regions of the Andes. For more information, please contact our sales team.

Which currency should I bring: Peruvian soles or US dollars?

For your tour, we recommend bringing US dollars as your primary currency. Once in Cusco, you can exchange your dollars for Peruvian soles. You’ll find numerous exchange offices in areas like Avenida El Sol. Compare the exchange rates to get the best one available.

Avoid exchanging currency at Peruvian airports, as they often offer less favorable rates. It’s advisable to have a reasonable amount of soles on hand during your tour, as most tourist businesses at the stops accept soles, and while some may accept dollars, having local currency is more convenient.

Where can I store my luggage during the visit to Machu Picchu?

For greater comfort and convenience, we recommend leaving heavy luggage at your hotel in Cusco. Most hotels provide free luggage storage.

During your train trip (the required segment to quickly reach Machu Picchu), you will use either Peru Rail or Inca Rail, both of which allow only 5 kg of luggage. Therefore, you should bring only a small, light backpack with the necessary items for one night and your activities away from your Cusco hotel, to which you will return.

How advisable is it to get insurance for the “6-Day Andean Adventures – With Flights from Chile” tour?

We suggest considering travel insurance for your peace of mind and safety. Your well-being is our top priority, and insurance can provide an extra layer of protection in case of any unexpected events.

Will I have internet access during my tour days?

Yes. The hotels we work with offer stable, high-speed internet. However, during the hikes to Humantay Lagoon or Rainbow Mountain, the connection may be slow or unstable. If you want constant connectivity, you can purchase a local SIM card. The top recommended networks are CLARO and ENTEL, which have wide coverage; you can choose from various data packages starting at around 5 soles, depending on your service needs.

Can I book extra hotel nights before or after my tour?

Yes, at Waman Adventures we offer the possibility of reserving extra nights in the hotels we work with, either before or after your tour. We will arrange these based on your particular needs.

For more information or to reserve extra nights, contact our sales team. They will coordinate all details and provide you with available options.

NOTE: All hotel reservations must be made at least 30 days before your travel date.

Is there a single supplement if I’m traveling solo?

Yes. Our promotional prices are designed for double occupancy, where two people share a room. If you prefer to travel alone and want a room to yourself, you must pay an extra fee. This single supplement covers costs related to having a private room and the associated transportation. We recommend consulting our sales team for specific details before booking.

Which train service to Machu Picchu is better: Expedition or Vistadome?

If you’re looking for the best train experience to Machu Picchu, we recommend Vistadome. Although both trains follow the same route and schedule, Vistadome has larger windows in its walls and ceiling, allowing you to enjoy the scenery even more. Additionally, Vistadome provides slightly more spacious seating and features a dance show and a baby alpaca fashion show on the segment from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo. This adds an extra touch of entertainment and culture to your journey.

What happens if a tour is canceled due to weather conditions or strikes?

We understand your concerns! When it comes to unpredictable weather or strikes that might affect your tour, we want to clarify. Unfortunately, because we pre-book your entrance tickets and transportation to ensure your trip, tours impacted by events out of our control are non-refundable. However, we’re here to help you find the best possible solutions and alternatives so that your journey remains as pleasant and safe as possible.

Do travel packages include international flights?

At Waman Adventures, we focus on providing exceptional service within Peruvian territory. Therefore, our travel packages do not include international airline tickets. However, we understand that planning a trip can be complicated, and we’re here to help you find the best options for your international flights. Our trained sales team will be happy to assist you with quotes and organization.

Is acclimatization important for this trip?

Most people adapt well in a day or two to Cusco’s altitude of 3,350 m, but it’s essential to remember that not everyone responds the same way to altitude changes. Some may feel altitude sickness while others do not. Taking an extra day in Cusco is an excellent way to ensure your body is fully acclimatized, so you can enjoy every day without altitude worries.

What do we have planned for the last day of the tour?

The last day of our package is a free day. You can make the most of it by exploring the city of Cusco on your own or simply resting, depending on your flight schedule. Don’t worry—we’ll be ready to take you from your hotel to the airport, ensuring you arrive in time. Once at the airport, our services end. We hope you had a stress-free experience filled with wonderful moments!

Is hiking equipment provided?

Absolutely! We offer handcrafted trekking poles as an option to enhance your hiking experience. These poles are ideal for providing stability and comfort during walks to Humantay Lagoon and Rainbow Mountain.

Can I purchase or rent trekking poles?

We understand each traveler’s preferences and needs, so we offer two convenient options.

First, we provide handcrafted trekking poles free of charge. These lightweight, traditional poles are perfect for those who want a simple option for stability and support during the hikes to Humantay Lagoon and Rainbow Mountain.

If you prefer standard trekking poles, we have those available as well. You can rent trekking poles for US$15 for the entire trip. These poles are sturdier and adjustable, offering greater control and support on various terrains.

Can I visit the hot springs in Aguas Calientes?

Yes. After arriving in the charming town of Aguas Calientes—usually around 5:00 p.m.—you’ll have the entire afternoon and evening to enjoy the relaxing hot springs.

The fee for entering the hot springs is US$10. This small additional expense grants you access to the thermal pools where you can soak and relish the warm water while admiring the surrounding mountains. It’s the perfect way to unwind before visiting Machu Picchu the next day.

Do I need to be in good shape to join this tour?

You do not need to be an athlete to join our tours, but being in reasonably good physical shape will help you get the most out of the hikes and activities. We strongly recommend all travelers inform us ahead of time if they have any injuries or special conditions that might affect their participation. Your safety and comfort are our top priorities.

If you have any specific medical condition, it’s important to consult your doctor before starting the trip. Our guides are prepared and carry first-aid kits for any eventuality. If you take personal medication, be sure to bring it with you on the tours and stay in constant communication with your guide regarding any assistance needed related to your health.
