waman-adventures-fortaleza-arqueologica-sacsayhuaman-cusco-peru Qenqo

It will be our pleasure to welcome you to the imperial city of Cusco (3,399 m / 11,151 ft). Today, we await your arrival at the airport or bus terminal, ready to assist you with your transfer to your hotel. Cusco is located in the heart of the Andes. Because of this, we know the importance of proper acclimatization before diving into this adventure. Therefore, we will spend the first day enjoying the city of Cusco while you adjust to the altitude.

In the afternoon, after settling into your hotel, we will explore Cusco on a City Tour, visiting the city’s highlights. We begin at the famous Qoricancha (3,390 m / 11,122 ft), which during the Inca Empire was a prominent place of worship dedicated to the sun god, Inti.

We will then continue our tour by visiting Sacsayhuaman (3,700 m / 12,139 ft), considered a ceremonial fortress in its time. Next, we will explore Qenqo, Tambomachay (3,812 m / 12,507 ft), and Puca Pucara, each with its own historical and archaeological significance.

  • Minimum altitude: 3,399 m / 11,151 ft

  • Machu Picchu. One of the world’s most famous destinations. Machu Picchu is a well-preserved Inca citadel offering spectacular panoramic views.
  • Rainbow Mountain. Also known as “Vinicunca,” it’s located in the Cusco region and has gained popularity in recent years for its vibrant colors.
What can I expect from the 6-Day Cusco, Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu and Rainbow Mountain Tour?
This 6-day tour provides a complete experience that combines culture, nature, and adventure in one of South America’s most iconic destinations: Cusco.

What is the age range for the 6-Day Cusco, Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu and Rainbow Mountain excursion?
The recommended minimum age for these experiences is 5 years, and it’s not advisable for children under 5. Additionally, all minors must be accompanied at all times by responsible adults (18+). Children over 12 are subject to the regular rate. The recommended maximum age for this tour is about 60, but it may vary based on individual physical condition.

If I have a physical limitation, can I still do this tour?
If you have a physical limitation, please contact our sales team via this link. Our representatives can provide a personalized assessment based on your fitness level and answer all your questions. Don’t hesitate to reach out – we’re here to help determine if the tour is right for you!

Can I change the departure date after booking the 6-Day Cusco, Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu and Rainbow Mountain package?
Yes, you can change your tour date if you contact us at least 45 days before the original departure date, with no extra cost. However, you must coordinate with our travel agents to avoid any issues with your new chosen dates.

Where does my travel package start and end?

All our travel packages include pick-up from the airport. Depending on your selected package and itinerary, pick-ups are from Cusco’s Alejandro Velasco Astete Airport. On arrival, a Waman Adventures representative will be waiting for you with a sign displaying your name.

Likewise, at the end of your package, our transport will take you to the designated airport according to your flight schedule. We will coordinate the hotel pick-up time with you. We also advise you to share detailed flight information with our sales agents so everything can be properly organized.

Will I need to pay a single supplement if I’m traveling alone?

Yes. Our promotional prices assume double occupancy (two people sharing a room). For solo travelers who prefer a private room, an additional charge will apply, which you can discuss with our sales advisors during booking. This covers the exclusive use of a room (which does not differ significantly in space or cost compared to a double room) and thus incurs a single supplement.

Can I bring a drone to any attractions visited during my 6-Day Cusco, Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu and Rainbow Mountain trip?

No. The use of drones is prohibited by supreme decree of the Peruvian government in any archaeological site or attraction we’ll visit during the tour in Cusco. However, you may be able to fly a drone in certain rural Andean areas.

Can I reserve additional hotel nights before or after my tour?

Yes. At Waman Adventures, we can arrange extra hotel nights in the properties we work with to meet our travelers’ specific needs.

For more information or to finalize a booking of extra nights, please contact our sales agents. We will coordinate the details for the additional nights and offer you available options.

Note: All hotel reservations must be made at least 30 days in advance of your booked date.

Can I choose my seat for the train to Machu Picchu?

Train companies Peru Rail or Inca Rail do not always allow travel agencies to select specific seats. Seats are purchased and assigned randomly, based on availability for the chosen date. The agency will always aim to secure tickets for the travel date, with seat numbers being secondary.

Alternatively, you could purchase your train tickets on your own, but as a travel agency, we handle these tickets for your convenience.

Where can I store my luggage during my trip to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu)?

For greater comfort, we recommend leaving heavy luggage at your hotel in Cusco. Most hotels offer complimentary luggage storage.

When taking the train (an essential segment to reach Machu Picchu quickly) with Peru Rail or Inca Rail, these companies only allow 5 kg of luggage. To make things easier, we suggest carrying only a small, light backpack or bag with the essential items for your stay and visits while away from your Cusco hotel, to which you will eventually return.

What is the best season to do this tour?
The best season for traveling in Cusco is generally the dry season, from about May to September. During the dry season, the weather is more stable, skies are clear, and there’s less rainfall in the city, making for a more pleasant trip and allowing adventurers to enjoy beautiful Andean landscapes.

What if my tour is canceled due to weather conditions or strikes?
We highly recommend you purchase travel insurance for your 6-day trip to Cusco, the Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu, and Rainbow Mountain. Travel insurance provides peace of mind, covering unforeseen events such as cancellations, delays, health issues, or accidents during your adventure. Choose insurance that meets your specific needs and offers adequate coverage for this exciting journey.

How far in advance should I book my 6-Day Cusco, Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu and Rainbow Mountain package?
Machu Picchu tickets are limited per day, so we recommend booking this 6-day Cusco, Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu and Rainbow Mountain tour with us at least 1 month in advance.

How can I get my ticket to enter Huayna Picchu?

You must book Huayna Picchu tickets months in advance. Only 400 people are allowed per day. The purchase is done online at the official site: https://www.machupicchu.gob.pe. Once on the site, select the route: CIRCUITO 4 + MONTAÑA WAYNAPICCHU, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. This ensures we follow the planned itinerary for your third day of travel.

Payment is made with Visa or MasterCard, carrying a 5% transaction fee. Finally, simply print your tickets and present them on the day you visit Waynapicchu Mountain.

Are vegetarian or special diet options available for meals?
Absolutely! At Waman Adventures, we want our travelers to fully enjoy their time in Cusco, including mealtimes. We highly recommend letting our sales team know in advance about your dietary preferences so we can adapt and offer suitable options during your meals.
