CUSCO – OLLANTAYTAMBO – INTIPUNKU OLLANTAYTAMBO

We start our Intipunku tour by picking you up at your hotel in Cusco early in the morning in our private transport. The drive to Ollantaytambo takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes, allowing you to enjoy the magnificent views of the Sacred Valley.

Once in Ollantaytambo, we head to the trail leading to Intipunku Ollantaytambo—the Sun Gate that differs from the Intipunku on the Inca Trail. The hike is moderate and takes about 2–3 hours round trip. Along the way, you’ll witness local flora and fauna typical of the Andean region.

On arriving at Intipunku Ollantaytambo, you’re rewarded with a sweeping panorama of the Sacred Valley and some of the Inca archaeological zones. Our guide shares stories about Intipunku’s astronomical and ceremonial relevance, and how local customs persist in the Andean worldview.

After you have time to take photos and enjoy the unique atmosphere, we’ll carefully descend to Ollantaytambo, where our private transport will be waiting to take us back to Cusco in the afternoon, dropping you off at your hotel.
